Start with the universal details

Most custom service requests need the same foundation even when the trade-specific questions differ.

  • What service or outcome the customer wants
  • Where the work is located
  • The approximate size, quantity, or condition
  • Access limits, utilities, pets, gates, stairs, parking, or obstacles
  • Preferred timing without treating it as a confirmed appointment
  • Photos when they clarify condition or access
  • Name, email, and an optional phone number

Add questions shaped around the trade

Generic forms miss the details that actually change the work. A mobile detailer needs vehicle and condition information. A pressure washer needs surfaces, area, stories, stains, water, and access. A yard cleanup provider needs yard areas, overgrowth, gate access, haul-away needs, and whether the customer is asking about a one-time or recurring service.

Trade-shaped questions make the request useful without forcing the provider into a fixed quote.

Use photos with a clear purpose

Ask for wide shots that show the whole area and close shots that show the problem. Tell customers what the provider is trying to understand.

Do not ask customers to upload unnecessary personal documents, payment details, gate codes, or unrelated images.

Separate a timing preference from a booking

A customer can say when they hope to have the work done. That does not mean the provider has accepted the job or reserved a time.

When the provider handles scheduling, the page should gather the preference and leave the actual availability and appointment to the follow-up conversation.

Confirm receipt and explain the next step

After submission, confirm that the request arrived, summarize what happens next, and avoid promising a quote or response time the business cannot guarantee.

The provider should receive the request details together and follow up directly to confirm what’s included, set the real price, and schedule when appropriate.

The demo is fictional and cannot create a real booking, but its questions show how the first request can gather useful context while the provider keeps control.

Questions people ask

Frequently asked questions

Should customers enter a budget?

A budget can be optional when it helps the provider understand expectations. It should not replace job details or imply that the provider has accepted the job.

Which photos are most useful for a service quote?

Use a few wide photos for overall size and access plus close photos for stains, damage, overgrowth, debris, or other details that affect the work.

Is a quote request the same as a booking?

No. A request gives the provider information to evaluate. The provider still decides price, availability, fit, and whether and when to schedule the work.
